Position Summary

Petsense is seeking a compassionate, motivated Groom Technician in Training to join our grooming team. This position is designed for individuals interested in building a career in pet grooming through our Paragon professional training program.

The Paragon program combines hands-on experience, online coursework, educational videos, practical exercises, and skill assessments to teach essential grooming techniques, pet safety, pet first aid and CPR, animal handling, dog anatomy, and breed-specific grooming practices. Store-provided tools are available throughout training, and successful completion of Paragon Level 2 earns participants their own professional grooming toolkit.

What You'll Learn

• Safe pet handling and restraint techniques
• Bathing, drying, brushing, and combing all coat types
• Nail trimming and ear cleaning
• Basic clipping and finishing techniques
• Breed-specific grooming practices
• Pet safety, health observation, and sanitation standards
• Customer service and appointment management

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and pet care
• Perform bathing and grooming support services
• Complete Paragon Level 2 training requirements within the required timeline
• Assist with scheduling appointments and customer follow-up calls
• Verify vaccination records and maintain client records
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary grooming environment
• Promote the health, safety, and well-being of all pets in our care
• Support store operations as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Paragon Level 1 certification
• Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Patience, compassion, and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and handle pets safely
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and groom animals for extended periods
• Comfortable working around water, grooming equipment, pets, and pet-related cleaning tasks
