Overview

ABLE Literacy Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our federally funded Resilient Futures Project, an initiative designed to provide trauma-informed mental health services to children and adolescents (ages 6 to 17) and their families throughout Broward County.

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping children and families build resilience while collaborating with schools, community organizations, and multidisciplinary partners.

Primary Responsibilities

We're looking for a compassionate, energetic, and engaging therapist who is comfortable providing:

  • Individual, family, and group counseling
  • Trauma-informed services in school and community settings
  • Presentations and workshops for students, parents, educators, and community partners
  • Collaboration with schools, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Clinical documentation, data collection, and progress monitoring
  • Evidence-based interventions that support children and families impacted by trauma and violence

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Florida license as an LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Experience maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Reliable transportation for occasional travel between Broward County school and community sites (mileage reimbursed)
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening and all required employment screenings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training or certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and/or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) preferred
  • Candidates without certification are encouraged to apply. Employer-paid TF-CBT and/or PCIT training and certification are available for qualified employees during their first year of employment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole) preferred
