Job Title: Teen Mentoring Program Coordinator

Organization: NY Race Track Chaplaincy

Job Type: Part-time (approx 20 hours per month)

Duration of Position: 12 months, with a mutual option to renew annually. 

Salary: $12,000 (negotiable in accordance with experience)

About Us:

Over 3,500 people make up the community of workers who toil behind the scenes in support of the Thoroughbred racing industry at Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course. The New York Race Track Chaplaincy ministers to the heart and soul of this entire community of stable workers and their families with children’s enrichment, teen mentoring, women’s programming, social service, recreational, and educational programs as well as non-denominational religious services.

Position Overview:

The Teen Mentoring Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating our teen mentoring program at Belmont Park. The program schedule will consist of one trip and one class per month, with a targeted curriculum designed to help teens develop positive life skills and build meaningful relationships with positive role models. The schedule will be flexible in order to accommodate various opportunities for the teens. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate the Teen Mentoring Program, including curriculum development and scheduling of activities.
  • Work with teens to establish goals and objectives for the program, and ensure that activities are aligned with those goals.
  • Develop a targeted curriculum that focuses on positive life skills such as communication, decision-making, leadership, and self-esteem.
  • Recruit and train volunteer mentors, and ensure that they are matched with appropriate teens.
  • Facilitate monthly activities, including a trip and a class, and ensure that activities are engaging and relevant to the needs and interests of the teens.
  • Ensure that all activities are safe, inclusive, and appropriate for the age group.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on program activities and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant information.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic and in tune with teens
  • Previous experience working with nonprofits or churches is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive role model with high moral standards
  • A background check will be performed prior to employment
