Position: 3-Year-Old Teacher (M/T/W/Th/F)
Hours: 9am - 12pm with additional 3 paid planning hours per week
Salary or Hourly: Salary
Status: 10 month position/Exempt
Dates: September 8, 2026 to June 2, 2027

Amherst Nursery School has been serving families in the Amherst community since 1938. As a vibrant, nurturing co-operative nursery school, we are dedicated to fostering a love of learning in young children through play-based experiences, social-emotional development, and strong partnerships with families to support each child's growth. We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and responsible Teacher to work in a co-operative environment in our nursery school classrooms. TThe ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, enjoys working closely with children and families, and thrives in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a classroom of 3-year-old students in a nurturing, play-based learning environment
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support during learning activities
- Support children's emotional, social, and physical development with patience and care
- Delegate appropriate tasks to the teacher's aide
- Collaborate with the teacher's aide to prepare learning materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play to ensure a safe and engaging environment
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
- Follow all school policies and health and safety protocols
- Maintain positive, professional communication with families regarding classroom activities and student development
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events as needed
- Cultivate a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment that welcomes children, families, and staff
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities throughout the school year
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with preschool-age children preferred
- Thorough knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and a willingness to follow school policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- Creative, energetic, and collaborative approach to teaching
- Warm, patient, and caring demeanor with a genuine love for working with children and families
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and remain active throughout the day
- Must pass all required background checks and screenings
