Job Description - Experienced Veterinary Technician

Preferred Qualification - Certified Veterinary Technician

Language Skills – English is required, Spanish proficiency or proficiency in another language is a bonus.

Education and Work Experience – Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Veterinary Technician Experience (Spay/Neuter, Shelter Medicine, ER and/or General Practice) Please do not apply if you have no experience with advanced surgical skills such as intubation, patient monitoring, catheterization etc. 

About ARC: ARC Spay & Neuter Specialists is a small, nonprofit in Sarasota, FL. We serve families, rescue organizations and TVNR trappers in 22 Florida counties.  We are a team of highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated professionals. Our veterinary team performs on average 25 spay/neuter surgeries a day.  In addition to surgery, we offer wellness two days a week.  

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about animals and the people who love them. MUST be reliable, showing up as scheduled and on time. Team player required.  

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide care for patients in a clean, safe, and loving environment
  • Perform high volume spay/neuter veterinary procedures such as patient prep, intubation, catheterization and patient monitoring as well as assisting with the administration of vaccines, testing and medications
  • Clean and prepare animals for surgery
  • Provide wound care treatments (e.g. administering medications)
  • Maintain and clean surgical supplies/equipment
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including intubation, shaving, bladder expression, nail trimming
  • Assist the veterinarian during surgery, assisting with procedure and monitoring of patients
  • Safely insert and remove catheters when required
  • Clean and maintain the clinic, including kennels
  • Ensure that all patients are monitored, safe, clean and warm pre and post surgery
  • Ensure all towels and laundry are clean and folded and that there is sufficient stock for surgery and recovery
  • Assure that the facility is stocked with supplies
  • Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., overtime rare
  • No nights
  • Occasional Saturday

Experience:

  • Veterinary experience: 2 years (Required) with preference for CVT
