Camp Arcadia is looking for enthusiastic, skilled, and responsible individuals to join our team for the upcoming summer season. This dual role allows you to lead on the water while building a close-knit community within our living quarters.
Key Responsibilities
Waterfront Instruction: Lead daily canoeing lessons for campers of various skill levels, focusing on stroke technique, water safety, and tandem coordination.
Safety Oversight: Maintain a vigilant eye on the waterfront, ensuring all campers follow safety protocols and equipment is properly maintained.
Lodge Leadership: Live in a lodge with a group of campers, serving as a mentor, role model, and primary support system.
Program Planning: Organize engaging lake-based activities, from sunset paddles to competitive canoe races.
What We’re Looking For
Knowledge in Canoeing: Knowledge of J-strokes, draws, prys, and water rescue techniques are a plus. If you're comfortable in a canoe, we can teach you the rest.
Certifications: Current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain them before the season starts).
Leadership Skills: Ability to manage groups of children with patience, energy, and a positive attitude.
Adaptability: Comfortable living in a rustic, outdoor-focused environment.
Why Join Us?
Spend your summer on the beautiful lakes of Maine! You’ll gain invaluable leadership experience, build lifelong friendships, and have a direct impact on the lives of young campers. Room and board are provided.
Season dates: June 7 - August 10 (with the option to extend to August 28)
