Archery Counselor – Summer 2026
Camp Chateaugay – Adirondack Mountains, Upstate New York
Dates: June 13 – August 12, 2026
Compensation: $2,500 + we pay for any travel expenses and includes all, room & board & meals
Camp Chateaugay is a premier co-ed sleepaway camp for children ages 7–17, located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. We pride ourselves on creating a supportive, energetic, and inspiring environment where campers grow, build confidence, and create lifelong memories.
This is a dynamic role combining archery instruction with full cabin counselor responsibilities, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on campers’ lives in a fun, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe, engaging archery sessions for campers of all skill levels
- Teach proper shooting techniques and enforce all safety procedures
- Deliver safety orientations (range rules, commands, equipment use)
- Set up, inspect, and maintain archery equipment daily
- Manage the archery range and ensure proper supervision at all times
- Assistant other specialists in other sports if the ratios are over 1:8 in such as soccer, basketball, baseball, fitness, martial arts, volleyball, yoga, lacrosse, gaga ball (no prior knowledge needed for these extra activities)
Cabin Counselor Role
- Live in a bunk with 6–12 campers alongside co-counselors
- Support daily routines including wake-ups, meals, activities, and bedtime
- Maintain a clean, organized cabin and ensure camper well-being
- Provide supervision at all times, including rest hours and overnight
- Build meaningful relationships, mentor campers, and handle minor issues
- Help foster independence, confidence, and a strong sense of community
- Collaborate with staff to create a fun, inclusive, and energetic camp environment
- Encourage teamwork, participation, and camp spirit
- Participate in special events, evening activities, and cabin trips/campouts each session
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $2,500+ (based on experience)
