Position Overview:

The Resource Specialist supports individuals served through Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC) and other referral sources in accessing community resources and maintaining housing stability. This role focuses on housing navigation, tenancy support, and connecting individuals to benefits and services that promote independence and quality of life. This is a non-clinical, field-based position grounded in person-centered practices.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED required; experience in housing services, resource coordination, or social services preferred.

Licensing:

Valid California driver’s license, current auto insurance, and acceptable DMV record required.

Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based systems; typing speed of at least 40 WPM.

Soft Skills: Strong organization, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Service Area: Must be able to travel throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

Other Requirements:

Flexible schedule; must pass DOJ background clearance, pre-employment screening (where applicable), and maintain required documentation and eligibility.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Housing & Resource Support:

  • Assist individuals with housing searches, applications, waitlists, and move-in coordination
  • Provide tenancy support, including education, check-ins, and housing stability planning
  • Support access to community and generic resources (applications, renewals, appeals)

Coordination & Communication:

  • Schedule and attend appointments with individuals as needed
  • Communicate with persons served, families, Service Coordinators, and community partners
  • Provide transportation to authorized appointments when required

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with Title 17 and TCRC requirements
  • Meet deadlines for reports, case updates, and administrative tasks
  • Follow all company policies, confidentiality standards, and mandated reporting requirements

Administrative & Professional Expectations:

  • Accurately track time worked, travel time, and required breaks
  • Maintain up-to-date records and systems
  • Demonstrate accountability, responsiveness, and professionalism in all duties

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Hourly, non-exempt position (eligible for overtime)
  • Schedule typically Monday–Sunday between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, based on program needs
  • Flexibility required due to field-based work
  • Mileage reimbursement provided
