Job Title:  Camp Nurse (RN)

Requirements: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)

Duration: Full Summer Season  May 14th to August 3rd

Compensation: $1000 - $1400 /wk + Private Cabin + Meals for duration of summer employment

Position Description:

As a Nurse, you will serve as a resource to staff in the work environment and on a personal care basis. Nurses are a vital role for the guardians of campers, therefore developing a connection with the families and evaluating consistency and transparency from the application to what is seen upon arrival is essential. It is expected that you treat campers and staff with kindness, dignity, and care customization based on the individual’s needs. As a health care provider you should be prepared to model by example in how you conduct yourself in medical care and bedside manner. Communication is what makes camp run smoothly, in the role of the nurse it is one of the most fundamental parts of your job. Tatiyee is a team, every part of our jobs are interconnected in order for us all to develop a community that fosters a safe and memorable experience for our campers. You must be prepared for a huge commitment of your time and patience. 

Specific Job Responsibilities: 

Training Week 

• The nursing team is responsible for developing an interactive presentation for full staff training week that includes vital medical knowledge that will be needed to guide staff in camper care.
• Trains full staff in proper operations regarding medical procedures that are most common in camper attendees.
• Developing an inventory, working with Admin for acquisition of needed supplies.
• Sterilizing and properly setting up the Infirmary.
• Development & Distribution of first aid kits, Lead packs, & dorm care boxes.
• The Camp Nurse is responsible for developing and implementing a medical emergency preparation plan for the nursing team in the case of evacuation.
• Facilitate drug tests for all staff members upon their arrival.
• Participation in training for assist-dining, lifting, redirection, team builders and risk management.

Pre-Week Prep

• Reviewing campers for the upcoming week, developing MARS, and a notes sheet for leads and programming staff regarding pertinent information, (i.e. allergies, seizures, ect.)
• During Check in the Nursing team will review medical needs and medications with the guardians of all campers, making notes of any changes. As well as performing a health screening of each camper before parents leave.
• Responsible for checking in and checking out medications.
  • After the review, all medications will be collected, checked for accuracy, quantity, documentation, labeling and will be placed in an organized, designated and locked cupboard in the infirmary. 
• Providing in depth direction on camper procedures for staff on a case-by-case basis. (i.e.  step-by-step on ostomy bags).

Campers

• While upholding camper dignity, provide any health-related or injury-related care to all campers.
• Frequently check-in on and provide meals, hydration and care for ill campers staying in the infirmary.
• Provide direct care procedures when needed.
• Maintain campers’ files, supplies and daily record keeping.
• Communicate with the executive site team daily to ensure that all campers and staff receive appropriate care.

Staff

• While upholding staff dignity, provide any health-related or injury-related care to all campers.
• Frequently check-in on and provide meals, hydration and care for ill staff members staying in the infirmary.
• Determine the needs for an ill or injuried staff member with their lead.
• If a staff member become ill during the weekend, the nursing team and admin will care for them.
• Instilling camp culture, holding yourself and others accountable to Tatiyee’s code of conduct on & off time.
• Focusing on the well-being of the staff to promote a safe and engaging experience for campers.

Meetings

• Sunday Meetings: Highlighting details about campers that pertain to full staff; (I.E. behavior, allergies, medical flags, dining)
• Nursing Team Meetings: Together, the nurses will reflect on the week and develop a plus and delta list of affirmations and areas of improvement for nursing and for camp operations as a whole.
• Site Team: Sharing & problem-solving using pertinent information to site-based team (SBT) meetings that impact camp as a whole.
• Friday Meetings: aid in weekly summarization of SBT resolutions and final thoughts on the week. Including reminders for the next week.
