About Us

RJE Design & Construction is a growing Long Island-based construction company with multiple divisions specializing in remodeling, kitchens, electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. We are looking for a motivated and organized Accounting Intern to support our office operations with a focus on job tracking, time management, and financial organization.

Position Overview

This internship is ideal for a student studying accounting, finance, business, or construction management who wants real-world experience inside a fast-paced construction company. The Accounting Intern will help track job costs, organize labor and material records, assist with timekeeping, and support the office in keeping projects financially organized.

Responsibilities
    •    Assist with job cost tracking for active construction projects
    •    Enter and organize labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs
    •    Help track employee hours and time records by project
    •    Review receipts, invoices, and purchase records for accuracy
    •    Support budgeting and cost-code organization
    •    Help maintain spreadsheets for project financial reporting
    •    Assist with accounts payable and invoice matching
    •    Work with office staff to improve organization and workflow
    •    Help identify cost trends, missing paperwork, and tracking issues
    •    Support weekly and monthly reporting for management

Qualifications
    •    Currently enrolled in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related program
    •    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    •    Comfortable with Excel, Google Sheets, and basic office software
    •    Good communication skills
    •    Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized
    •    Interest in construction, project costing, or operations is a plus

Preferred Skills
    •    Familiarity with spreadsheets and data entry
    •    Strong time management
    •    Analytical mindset
    •    Willingness to learn job costing and construction office systems
