Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Welder / Fabrication Technician to join our clients growing manufacturing team in Detroit. This role involves welding structural materials using GMAW processes, along with general shop and fabrication support. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable performing a mix of welding and general labor tasks.

This is not a sit-down welding role - candidates should be willing to assist with material handling, prep work, and shop operations as needed.

Location: Detroit, MI

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6am-4:30pm

Pay: $20 - $21/hour based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform GMAW welding on structural steel and metal components
• Follow written and verbal welding procedures and work instructions
• Weld in certified positions and meet quality standards
• Grind, chip, wire wheel, and prep materials for welding and finishing
• Move materials to and from work areas
• Assist with general labor and shop support as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Pass welding tests (AWS D1.1 or equivalent)

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of welding experience
• Ability to pass welding certification tests
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, procedures, and safety rules
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Strong attention to detail and safety
• Welding certification preferred (not required)
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
