Your responsibilities will involve implementing the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach and Multiple Intelligence theory, fostering a love for learning, and ensuring the holistic development of each child.

Lead Teacher – Toddler, Preschool, PreK - Reggio Emilia-Inspired | Southfield, MI

Early Spark Academy is a Reggio Emilia-inspired early learning center dedicated to nurturing the whole child through developmentally appropriate, child-led, and creative experiences that reflect their interests, curiosity, and strengths.

We’re seeking a passionate and reflective Lead Teacher to guide children aged 6 weeks to 5 years through engaging, intentional learning rooted in the Reggio Emilia approach and Multiple Intelligences theory. You'll design meaningful experiences, foster strong relationships with families, and help shape a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement Reggio-inspired lessons aligned with Michigan Early Childhood Standards
  • Observe, document, and assess student development using best practices
  • Partner with co-teachers and families to support each child’s learning journey
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and literacy-rich classroom environment
  • Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are consistently met
  • Maintain regular communication with families, including conferences and classroom updates
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Compliance: Must possess (or be willing to obtain) CPR/First Aid certification, a clear TB test, and background clearance.
  • Logistics: Reliable transportation and the ability to maintain a consistent schedule.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, a creative approach to lesson planning, and a genuine growth mindset.
