Club: Bettendorf Aquatics Club (IA-BETT)
Location: Bettendorf, Iowa
Position Type: Part-Time (Afternoon/Evening & Weekends Required)
Reports To: Head Coach

Club Overview / Position Summary
Bettendorf Aquatics Club (IA-BETT) is a year-round, competitive USA Swimming–affiliated program located in eastern Iowa. With over 100 swimmers and growing rapidly, Bettendorf Aquatics Club is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Coach to lead and support swimmers approximately ages 5–12 while assisting with older practice groups.
 

Our program is dedicated to developing athletes of all levels in a positive, athlete-centered environment.  We emphasize technical development, long-term athlete growth, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the sport of swimming. The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and passionate about building technically sound, confident, and motivated swimmers.  This position requires weekday afternoon/evening availability, Saturday mornings, and extended hours during meet weekends. Additional opportunities may be available within our swim lesson program.


Primary Responsibilities
• Plan and conduct age-appropriate practices focused on technique, skill progression, and engagement
• Teach and reinforce all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes
• Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive training environment
• Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff
• Attend weekend swim meets as needed; assist with warm-ups and race-day coaching
• Support swimmer development aligned with long-term athlete development principles
• Adhere to all USA Swimming and Safe Sport policies 

Qualifications
• Previous coaching experience with age-group swimmers (required)
• Competitive swimming experience at the club, high school, or collegiate level (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and swim fundamentals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Energetic, organized, and a positive role model
• Passion for youth development


Certifications & Requirements
• Current USA Swimming Coach Membership (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
• Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certifications (or ability to obtain)
• Completion of all required background checks and Safe Sport training
 

Compensation
Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications. Membership fees and travel will be paid
for or reimbursed by the Club. Additional opportunities available through our swim lesson program.
