Camp Chateaugay is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Woodworking Counselor to join our team for Summer 2026! This is a unique opportunity to spend the summer working with children in a fun, supportive camp environment while sharing your passion for woodworking.

Role Overview

Lead and instruct woodworking activities for campers of varying ages and skill levels

Teach safe and proper use of machinery and hand tools in a workshop setting

Guide campers in designing and creating their own woodworking projects

Emphasize health and safety practices at all times in the woodshop

Foster creativity, confidence, and skill development in campers

Live in a cabin with campers and act as a mentor and role model

Participate in daily camp life, including activities, events, and evening programs

Support a positive, inclusive, and engaging camp community

Requirements

Previous woodworking experience (professional, educational, or hobby-based)

Experience working with children

Strong understanding of woodshop safety procedures and tool use

Ability to plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate projects

A portfolio or photos showcasing your woodworking projects (required)

About Camp Chateaugay

Camp Chateaugay is a traditional summer camp dedicated to creating a fun, safe, and enriching environment for children. Our staff play a vital role in building a strong sense of community while helping campers grow, learn new skills, and make lifelong memories. We have over 60+ activites including glassblowing, waterskiing, horseback riding, cooking, ceramics, a ropes course, gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, tennis, and theatre. Counselors can utilize the facilities during their off time and free periods.
