Camp Chateaugay is seeking a passionate and skilled male Ceramics Counselor to join our creative team for Summer 2026!
Located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, Camp Chateaugay offers a dynamic, traditional camp experience for boys and girls ages 7–17. Our ceramics program is a vibrant part of camp life, giving campers the opportunity to explore creativity through hands-on clay work.

Position Details
   •    Dates: June 13th – August 12th, 2026
   •    Location: Adirondacks, New York
   •    Campers: Boys & Girls, ages 7–17
   •    Salary: Starting around $2,500+ for the summer (based on experience)
   •    Includes: All room, board, meals, and travel expenses

Responsibilities
   •    Teach and supervise ceramics classes for campers of varying ages and skill levels
   •    Demonstrate and instruct in:
   ◦    Wheel throwing
   ◦    Handbuilding techniques
   ◦    Proper glazing methods
   ◦    Kiln loading, firing, and safety procedures
   •    Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring studio space
   •    Plan engaging projects appropriate for beginners through advanced campers
   •    Manage materials and ensure proper care of equipment
General Counselor Responsibilities
   •    Live in a cabin with campers and fellow counselors
   •    Provide mentorship, supervision, and support throughout the day
   •    Participate in camp-wide activities, events, and evening programs
   •    Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive camp environment

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
   •    Has strong experience with pottery wheels, kilns, glazing, and handbuilding techniques
   •    Can confidently operate and maintain kiln equipment safely
   •    Has experience teaching or working with children (preferred)
   •    Is energetic, patient, and enthusiastic about working with ages 7–17
   •    Thrives in a collaborative camp community environment

Portfolio Required
Please include examples of past ceramic work (photos, website, or digital portfolio). Teaching examples are a plus!
