Position Overview

Somerset Career Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Career & Technical Education (CTE) Electrical Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in electrical systems and industry practices while preparing students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and careers in the electrical trade.

This position requires a strong background in electrical systems, safety standards, and hands-on instruction, along with the ability to build positive relationships with high school students.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging instruction in electrical theory, wiring methods, circuitry, blueprint reading, and industry safety standards (OSHA/NFPA).

Provide hands-on lab experiences aligned with industry expectations and real-world applications.

Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (NCCER preferred).

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state CTE standards.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and competency progress.

Supervise students in laboratory settings and ensure strict adherence to safety regulations.

Collaborate with local industry partners to create opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and career pathways.

Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical field.

Commercial and residential electrical experience.

Valid state teaching certificate in CTE Electrical Education or eligibility to obtain alternative certification.

Relevant industry certification or licensure.

Strong classroom management, leadership, and communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to student success and workforce readiness.

Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with high school students.

OSHA certification.

Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Experience preparing students for industry exams and apprenticeship pathways.
