Job Overview
Are you passionate about early childhood education and fostering young minds? We are seeking a dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team in our multi-age, play-based preschool classroom.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units required.
  • Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Health & Safety:
  • Ability to pass a background clearance.
  • Negative TB test required.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam.

About Our Preschool

We are a vibrant, child-centered non-profit preschool in Montgomery Village that believes in the power of play as the foundation for learning and development. Our multi-age classroom encourages collaboration, creativity, and individual growth in a warm and supportive environment. In our Multi-age classroom we have 5 teachers working 5 different interest areas in a weekly rotation creating a low 1:6 ratio. We have a Pre-K program daily. The Pre-K teacher pulls out 5 to 10 students for two 1hr sessions a day for kindergarten readiness creating a 1:4 ratio.

Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards when head teaching.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Manage classroom activities effectively to ensure smooth transitions and maintain order.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and development.
  • Support children with special needs through tailored instructional strategies.
  • Ensure child welfare by maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.

Skills

  • Strong skills in curriculum development tailored for preschool-aged children.
  • Proficient in classroom management techniques to create an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of child welfare practices to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Experience working with students in a preschool setting or similar educational environments.
