Position Overview
The Mechanical/Design Engineer will lead the mechanical design of custom industrial computing hardware, including enclosures, chassis, mounting systems, and integrated assemblies. You’ll work closely with electrical engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams to convert customer requirements into rugged, manufacturable, and high‑performing systems.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop and model custom enclosures, frames, and hardware components for industrial computer systems using advanced 3D CAD platforms, including Striker software.
- Translate customer requirements into manufacturable mechanical solutions.
- Perform tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA reviews, material selection, and mechanical optimization.
- Evaluate thermal performance, shock/vibration resistance, and environmental durability.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and feedback-driven iteration.
- Create engineering drawings and documentation.
- Ensure designs meet relevant industrial standards.
- Experienced in programming Amanda laser and turret punch machines (will train).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 1–3 years of mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling.
- Experience with sheet metal and enclosure design.
- Understanding of thermal management principles.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Ability to work in a build‑to‑order engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing rugged or industrial computing systems.
- Familiarity with IP/NEMA ratings and MIL‑STD requirements.
- Hands-on prototyping experience.
- Exposure to PLM systems.
- Understanding of EMC/EMI considerations.
