Position Summary:
The Church Interns assist the Student Ministry and Children's Ministry by creating and implementing a welcoming, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for children, students, and their families. These positions are designed to provide practical ministry experience, mentorship, and an opportunity to explore a vocational calling within a supportive church environment. The interns will focus on building relationships with students and families while also providing essential administrative and logistical support for various programs and events.
Reports To: Director of Family Ministries
Key Responsibilities:
- Relational Ministry & Discipleship:
- Develop and maintain consistent, personal relationships with students, children, parents, and volunteers.
- Assist in leading small groups and teaching Bible studies/classes for both student or children's programs.
- Be present and actively engaged in scheduled programming on Sundays, Wednesday evenings, and during special events.
- Serve as a positive Christian role model and mentor to young people.
- Program & Event Support:
- Help plan, promote, and execute special events, camps, retreats, service projects, and mission trips.
- Assist with the gathering, organization, setup, and breakdown of supplies and equipment for all activities.
- Ensure all ministry spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming before, during, and after events, adhering to church safety policies.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of weekly curriculum and class materials.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A demonstrated, growing personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with the church's beliefs with a passion for sharing the message of Jesus Christ with young people.
- Some college education preferred, or enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate program.
- Experience serving or volunteering in a church children's or student ministry setting is beneficial.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, children, and parents.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and a willingness to learn church-specific software (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter).
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and complete child safety training.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the church and off-site events.
Working Conditions:
The position requires flexible hours, including weekends (Sunday mornings) and occasional evenings for events and meetings. The role may involve physical tasks such as lifting supplies (up to 25-50 lbs), standing for periods, and general classroom setup and cleanup.
Compensation:
$18/hr for approximately 15 hours per week.
