Art Teacher- Hot Potato Art StudioArt Teachers support the studio’s mission by teaching engaging art lessons, creating a safe and positive learning environment, and contributing to a consistent, high-quality experience for students ages 2-17. Teachers lead classes, camps, workshops, parties, and school-site programs at the studio and at off-site locations. Opportunities for one-on-one tutoring may also be available.
ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Lesson Delivery
- Plan and teach creative, age-appropriate art lessons aligned with studio goals.
- Use provided lessons and adjust or prepare additional steps or materials as needed.
- Prepare demonstrations, teacher samples, and clear instructional steps.
- Support lesson planning and preparation for classes, workshops, and camps.
- Lead classes, camps, workshops, parties, and school site programs at the studio and/or at off-site locations.
- If tutoring, complete the tutoring log at the end of each session.
Classroom Management & Student Support
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment at all times.
- Communicate student progress, successes, and concerns to parents in a friendly and professional tone.
- Set clear expectations, manage group dynamics, and use positive behavior-support strategies.
- Direct and support classroom aides to ensure smooth class flow, student support, and clean-up.
Studio Operations & Clean-Up
- Set up materials before class and clean-up the space afterwards. .
- Maintain overall studio cleanliness and organization between classes or events.
- Report supply needs, student concerns, or incidents to management promptly.
- Assist with studio events, vendor fairs, and marketing events as needed.
- Transport materials and travel to school sites and events when scheduled.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or related field (or equivalent teaching experience).
- Experience teaching or working with children in a school, camp, or studio setting.
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals and age-appropriate techniques.
- Positive, patient, and comfortable leading a classroom with clear communication.
- Ability to collaborate professionally and support classroom aides.
Requirements
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (active and maintained).
- Must be comfortable with a variety of session formats (classes, camps, workshops), working with a range of ages from 5-17, and experience with a variety of art mediums.
- Reliable transportation; some classes take place at school sites.
- Ability to transport small amounts of art supplies.
- Attendance at mandatory team meetings on Mondays at 10:30 AM.
- Must be available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays during the day.
- Consistent, timely communication (respond within 24 hours unless urgent).
- Punctuality: arrive 10–15 minutes before class and stay until clean-up is complete.
- Adherence to all studio policies and safety procedures.
- Ability to use basic digital tools (Google Drive, email, online attendance, lesson materials) as required for communication and documentation.
- Scheduling: occasional evening or weekend availability for workshops or events may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move for 1–4 hours.
- Ability to bend, reach, and assist students at table height.
- Ability to lift 10–30 lbs.
- Ability to safely use classroom tools and maintain visual awareness of all students.
- Ability to move efficiently around the classroom to support students, demonstrations, and transitions during fast-paced lessons.

Pay
Pay starts at $22/hour. Performance reviews are held every six months with the opportunity for salary increases based on performance. Hired as a W2 employee.
Schedule: About 10-30 hours a week. Some weekend availability required.
