Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, with specific expertise in wound management and associated clinical practices. This role requires a compassionate individual who is committed to providing high-quality care to patients across various settings, including outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, and hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, including history taking and physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for wound management.
  • Perform advanced wound care techniques, including suturing and administration of botulinum toxin treatments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care management, prevention strategies, and overall health maintenance.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives related to wound care practices.
  • Provide telehealth consultations as needed to enhance patient access to care.
  • Stay current with advancements in wound care technologies and treatment methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license with specialization in wound care or related field.
  • Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or acute care settings preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and CPT coding for accurate medical documentation.
  • Experience with various clinical procedures including IV infusion, catheterization, phlebotomy, and basic life support.
  • Knowledge of geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to wound care.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Previous experience in outpatient settings, home care, or nursing homes is advantageous.
