About The Rock Underground: The Rock Underground (TRU) is a performance-based Music School that offers private lessons, forms bands, and performs live shows. Position Description: We are seeking beginner-to-advanced Vocal and Drum (multi-instrumental highly preferred) Instructors to join The Rock Underground team of instructors in Pine Island / Warwick, NY. The instructor may start with either substitute opportunities for any of our instructors or a small roster of students (depending on the instrument taught) and will have the ability to take on new students as needed. The Teacher will educate, engage and inspire our students through our dynamic and exciting programs. The Instructor will also be expected to come prepared with his or her own lesson plans and methodology that help individual students reach their musical goals.

Qualifications:

- Completed Music Degree or currently pursuing a Music degree. If a degree achieved in field other than that of music, the instructor must show significant prior teaching experience.

- Ability to teach a regular weekly schedule (at least one day per week) that may typically run from 2:30 to 9pm if it’s a full lesson day

- Ability to learn songs quickly by ear, chart and teach music theory, ear training, scales, harmony through a variety of different music styles, with a major plus for CLASSIC ROCK.

- Ability to basically improvise on your principal instrument

- Ability to teach more than 1 instrument at beginner or higher level is a MAJOR plus.

- Strong Pluses: Dynamic personality; previous experience and love of working with children; Love and knowledge of a variety of music genres.

- Ability to relate and adapt to different learning styles for different students.
