Chief of Staff / Business Manager

Overview

Jason’s strategic right hand. Manages EA and Finance, coordinates with Talent + PR, and partners with Project Manager. Keeps Jason’s bandwidth, relationships, and projects optimized with a growth and profit lens.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead EA + Finance; interface with Talent Manager and PR.
  • Oversee budgets, P&L, and ROI across projects and speaking.
  • Turn vision into action across relationships, content, and initiatives.
  • Maximize ROI from public speaking by driving follow-ups and client capture.

     

Success looks like: Jason spends time on leadership, coaching/speaking/training, writing and producing content while the CoS ensures everything around him runs efficiently, profitably, and relationally excellent.

Traits & Qualifications

  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent relationship builder and communicator.
  • Entrepreneurial, detail-driven, proactive.

Ability

  • Proven track record managing others to results.
  • Experience running a small company or division with at least $2M in revenue 
  • Experience managing at least 4 direct reports over a long period of time.
  • Background in managing creative projects — speaking, coaching, training, or content.
  • Comfort with P&L management and making creative decisions with financial discipline.
  • History of integrating operations and relationships across multiple functions.

Authority

  • Recognized within previous orgs as a trusted operator and strategist.
    Credibility comes from being the person leadership relies on to make complex things happen.
  • Ideally someone who has worked alongside or reported directly to C-level leaders.

Accessibility

  • Has a professional network in business ops, PR, talent, finance, and creative industries.
  • Can open doors, or at least knows how to manage external vendors and stakeholders effectively.
  • While their role doesn’t require being a “rainmaker,” access to respected circles adds leverage.
