Human Resource Volunteer Intern to work in the office Monday-Friday assisting the GFS HR team with various HR functions. The ideal candidate would be either a graduate student, studying Human Resources, or a junior or senior in a Human Resources undergraduate program.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Serve as the first point of contact for basic HR inquiries at the GFS campus office and assist visitors in accessing the building.
  2. Monitor the HR email inbox, respond to basic inquiries, and escalate issues accordingly.
  3. Assist the HR team with various processes, such as meeting/greeting current and new employees, phone coverage, security badge creation, and attending departmental meetings.
  4. Support HR Coordinator with onboarding processes such as collecting new hire information, completing I-9 verification and reporting, and conducting follow-up on missing items.
  5. Ensure data integrity in HRIS/Paychex/PayFlex systems.
  6. Maintain electric and physical filing of personnel records and conduct follow-up on missing items for current employees for compliance.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Enrollment in a Graduate Human Resource program, or a Junior or Senior in an Undergraduate program is required.
  2. Strong Technical Skills – basic proficiency with Microsoft Office required, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  3. Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills are required. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. 
  5. Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain composure when required to meet varying deadlines.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  7. Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team required.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

This position requires prolonged periods of stationary work, sitting at a computer and using a keyboard and mouse. This position will also be required, on occasion to lift, bend or reach for items weighing upwards of 10 pounds. This position may require traveling throughout campus as necessary. Accommodations will be made as necessary for the successful completion of responsibilities.
