Job summary
The Mailbox, Pack and Send Customer Service Associate delivers outstanding service by assisting customers with all retail services, including mailing, packing, and shipping. This role involves operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, managing mailbox rentals, and handling various administrative tasks while maintaining a professional and organized store environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Customer service: Greet customers warmly in person and over the phone, and help them with their shipping, packing, and mailing needs.
Mail and package handling: Receive, sort, log, and process incoming and outgoing mail and packages. This includes documenting incoming parcels in a tracking system, notifying customers of deliveries, and forwarding mail for virtual mailbox clients.
Packaging: Provide expert packing services and advise customers on the best materials and methods for their shipments. Sell appropriate products to ensure items are shipped safely and efficiently.
Shipping coordination: Process and coordinate shipments with major carriers such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL. Advise customers on the most economical and appropriate shipping options.
Point-of-sale operation: Accurately process customer transactions for shipping, mailbox rentals, retail sales, and other services. Handle payments and manage end-of-day accounting procedures.
Product and service knowledge: Stay knowledgeable about all products and services offered, such as notary services, copying, and passport photos, to effectively upsell and cross-sell to customers.
Store maintenance: Keep the store and work areas clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
Problem-solving: Take ownership of customer issues related to packing or shipping and offer viable solutions.
Additional duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Skills and qualifications
Customer service skills: Excellent interpersonal communication and a friendly, helpful demeanor are essential.
Attention to detail: Must be able to accurately sort mail, process transactions, and handle packages with care.
Computer proficiency: Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping carrier software.
Multitasking: The ability to handle a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
Physical stamina: The job may involve standing for long periods and lifting packages up to 50 pounds.
Reliability: The role requires punctuality and responsibility, especially when opening or closing the store.
Problem-solving: The ability to troubleshoot issues and find effective solutions for customers.
Certification: Notary Public certification is often a plus and may be required after hiring. We pay for your certification, but you have be able to qualify and take the course.
