Babylon is an independent online media platform based in Ireland, expanding to the United States of America, providing guides, music, and community support for expatriates worldwide. As we expand into new countries, we're seeking an Editor to craft compelling narratives about life across cultures through our web radio, articles, and community resources. Join us in creating stories that resonate with global citizens navigating life abroad.

The internship is for a minimum of 3 months, remote and it is unpaid.

About the Role

We're looking for an Editor with a keen eye for detail and a knack for what makes a story compelling. You'll be involved in the entire editorial cycle, from suggesting story ideas to proofreading and publishing the final piece. You will help us provide exceptional, informative, and engaging content that resonates with our multicultural audience. This is a chance to sharpen your skills in a fast-paced environment while working with a small, dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and Manage Content: Oversee the online publishing cycle, ensuring content areas are well-managed and align with our goals.
• Shape and Refine Stories: Suggest story ideas and generate compelling headlines. You will proofread, edit, and improve written pieces for clarity, accuracy, and tone.
• Collaborate and Liaise: Work with writers, designers, marketers, and other creatives to bring content to life and ensure the final product meets our standards.
• Maintain Quality: Check content for accuracy and errors, ensuring it complies with media law and ethical guidelines.
• Optimise for Our Audience: Learn and apply SEO best practices to help our content reach more people.

What We’re Looking For:

• Exceptional Writing & Editing Skills: You have exemplary writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong eye for detail. A portfolio and graphic design skills are a plus.
• Organized & Self-Motivated: You can manage multiple project elements simultaneously and are comfortable working independently.
• Creative Problem-Solver: You have a good sense of what makes an interesting angle to a story and can solve challenges as they arise.
• Team Player: You’re comfortable collaborating with various groups and individuals within the business.
