The Role:

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA), as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, assists with appropriate therapeutic intervention under the direction of a licensed/ registered Occupational Therapist to maximize the client’s cognitive, sensory, physical functioning, and level of independence.

  • Per Diem
  • Monday-Friday
  • 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
  • Pay rate:  $36.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides fabulous every day care, every day to clients and other customers.
  2. Implements portions of a client’s Occupational Therapy program as established by the licensed/registered Occupational Therapist. 
  3. Assists the Occupational Therapist directly in administering tests and assessment procedures.
  4. Observes and documents the client’s responses to treatment.
  5. Provides client, family, and staff education and training as needed and documents appropriately.
  6. Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, staff, and business operations, and adheres to all HIPAA standards. 
  7. Behaves in accordance with the Mission and Values of Special Tree.
  8. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner.
  9. Respects and appropriately considers age, gender, cultural background, and related factors when providing services to all internal and external customers.
  10. Demonstrates ability to work appropriately with clients who may exhibit aggressive or difficult behaviors following STRS Behavior Management policy and training.

 

Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s degree in Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is required.
  • Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy is required along with licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrates good moral character.
  • Prefer 1 year experience with variety of clients.
