Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry (VLM)

 

Mission: VLM provides opportunities for Christ-centered spiritual growth, leadership development, and outreach in God's great northwoods.

 

Position Overview: The Retreat Coordinator is responsible for managing VLM’s year-round retreat ministry. This includes registration, marketing, and ensuring hospitality for retreat guests at both Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermillion. The Retreat Coordinator works closely with the Associate Director for Operations and is tasked with ensuring food service and hosting are well-coordinated.

 

Accountability: Reports to the Associate Director for Operations.

 

Manages: Host Interns, CH Food Service Staff, Housekeeping Staff

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Retreat Program Management:
    • Lead all registration, marketing, and logistics management for VLM’s user group ministry.
    • Work with congregations and other groups to coordinate bookings and provide excellent customer service, ensuring clear expectations are set with guest groups to ensure an incredible experience.
  2. Hospitality and Food Service:
    • Ensure user groups receive welcoming, Christ-centered hospitality.
    • Give leadership to food service at Camp Hiawatha.
    • Oversee the coordination of food service at both camp sites for user groups, communicating guest needs and schedules, and working with kitchen staff to provide quality meals.
    • Oversee the coordination and ensure the completion of housekeeping at both sites
  3. Guest Relations:
    • Ensure appropriate hosts are available for all retreat guests and that all guest needs are met.
    • Work closely with the Associate Director for Operations to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the retreat programs.
  4. Marketing and Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the Associate Director to promote retreat offerings through marketing materials, social media, and community engagement.
  5. Other Duties:
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Operations.
