SUMMARY:

Paints automotive body panels, assists in the preparation and finesse process as needed.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform preparation work prior to painting such as grinding, sanding, buffing and mask-off areas not to be painted
  • Fill cavities and dents as necessary and surfaces repaired area to attain required finish
  • Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sandpaper and wire brush
  • Selects and mixes paint to produce desired color and finish according to specifications
  • Applies paint to prepared surfaces adjusting sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting techniques up to show-car levels as required
  • Cleans spraying equipment thoroughly with solvent 
  • Moves painted articles from preparation area to and from paint booth
  • Consistently meet productions requirements without sacrificing quality, ensuring minimal parts are burned or damaged, keeping repairs to a minimum. 
  • Maintains cleanliness of spray booth and mix rooms
  • Follow all work-instructions, ensuring processes is consistently followed and all parts meet quality requirements and are within spec.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment; follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules. 
  • Assist in finesse, prep and repair process when needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Production Supervisor & Production Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma of GED, certificate from a vocational school and/or associate degree in auto body related field highly preferred. 
  • Background in paint and body repair with 5+ years hands on experience. 
  • Must be a team player, willing to contribute to a positive team focused environment.
  • Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
