We are a Ophthalmology office in Fresno seeking a friendly and experienced Optician to join our team! We are looking for someone who is professional, efficient, and has great customer service skills. The position is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, no weekends or holidays. The optician works under the supervision of the front office manager, and is responsible for oversight of the entire optical shop, as the solo optician.

Position Purpose: The Optician will provide the highest standard and professional services to our patients. The Optician will be expected to fit, process, and evaluate all eyewear. The Optician will sell optical products or services with enthusiasm, provide proper instructions on use and care of the eyewear products dispensed, and perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Job Duties:

• Verify and dispense optical eyewear working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
• Evaluate eyeglasses and perform repairs and adjustments.
• Evaluate patient eye health, prescription, and lifestyle to design and fit eyewear to meet patient’s needs.
• Maintain professional relationship with Ophthalmologists and Optometrists in the practice.
• Maintain appearance and stock of small Optical shop.
• Prepare and submit orders for inventory replenishment.
• Verify and bill major insurance (VSP, Eyemed, Spectera etc.) including posting functions.
• Prepare daily sales and weekly sales summary.
• Other responsibilities/duties assigned.

Requirements:

• Strong Sales Skills
• Awareness of current fashion trends
• Highly self-motivated in providing exceptional customer service
• Must be organized and dependable
• Strong knowledge in glasses repair
• Bilingual in Spanish
• EMR experience or similar computer experience
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Minimum of 1+ years working with Vision, Optics, Optometry Technician, or Optometrist/ Ophthalmologist Assistant

Preferred:

• Optician Certification
• 2+ years' experience in an optical setting
