Natural Playgrounds woodworking shop manufactures play and learning elements that we ship all over the country to child care centers, schools, and communities. We are looking for a Shop Assistant/Apprentice to add to our team! If you'd like to eventually become a full time carpenter/builder, we would welcome that and encourage you in every way!

If you're graduating from high school and want to go into the building trade, this might be a great opportunity for you!

This want ad is for year-round, full or part time work in a spacious, well lit woodworking shop means a nice warm place to work in the winter, plenty of fresh air in the summer, and easy hours with a standard work week of Monday-Friday 8-4:30. Right near the river for a quick kayak or swim after work! We have a great crew, a very supportive working environment, and making things for children is very rewarding work!

Responsibilities:
The shop assistant will be responsible for various duties ranging from assisting our builders in woodworking projects to general shop maintenance. Some of the week-to-week tasks include the following.
• Assisting builders with construction of products
• Disassembling and palletizing orders to get them ready for shipment
• Building shipping pallets (we modify existing pallets, if needed)
• Making musical panels
• Organizing, maintaining, and keeping the shop clean
• Inventorying lumber and other building materials
• Adhering to all safety rules and procedures at all times

Qualifications / Requirements:
• No experience is necessary, but must be willing and able to learn quickly and use small power tools safely.
• Familiarity with hand and small power tools is a plus
• Able to lift 40 lbs
• Must have reliable transportation to work (car, bus, bike...). You'll be an integral part of the team, so we'll be counting on you!
• Good work ethic
• Positive attitude is a must :)
