Job Purpose: Perform complex fabrication, shaping, modification and repair work performed on a variety of electric rotating and linear equipment, including parts and tools used on machinery and equipment. This work involves the calculation of dimensions and tolerances, the set-up, adjustment and operation of machine tools. Will work with various types of metals, plastics, imperial and metric measurements and close tolerances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Capable of performing all mechanical measurements as they relate to the rebuilding of motor components and tooling
• Basic mathematical capabilities with an understanding of tolerances and bearing fits • Capable of reading mechanical drawings and specifications to applicable standards
• Knowledge of mechanical instruments, calibration techniques and requirements
• Operating principles and the use of the following equipment and maintaining them
o Milling Machine
o Lathe Machine (Set-up and Operation) o Drill Press (vertical and radial)
o Undercutting machines and tools (Automatic and Manual)
o Balancing Machine o Brush Plating Machine (SIFCO)
• Understanding of undercutting requirements, polishing, finishing (ie-deburring) as specified in our ITR’s
• Usage of overhead cranes and material handling equipment
• Understanding of documentation requirements of work performed
• Able to understand Internal Test Reports
• Welding principles and application. Basic manual ARC welding
• Usage of Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Air Tools
• Understanding of Safety concepts and ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System • Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Education: Must possess a valid General Machinist Certificate of Qualification and a Certificate of Apprenticeship, normally obtained through Grade 12 technical school education or its equivalent
• Skills: Must have a mechanical or electrical aptitude
• Experience: Two years experience in a related industry
Pay Rate: $22-$29
Note: The rates are flexible based on the skills and experiences.
