Associate Teacher - Head Start Program

About Us: Southwestern Community Services (SCS) Head Start is a federally funded early childhood education program with five NAEYC-accredited centers. We are dedicated to promoting school readiness and providing comprehensive early childhood services to children from income-eligible families.

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate Full-Time Associate Teacher who will work under the direction of the Teacher to ensure the safety of all children by implementing the Active Supervision Policy. You will create a warm, caring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets NH State Child Care Licensing Rules, Head Start Performance Standards, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.

You will plan and execute both individual and group lessons using the Creative Curriculum and TS GOLD® child assessment. By using TS GOLD® data, you will tailor the learning environment to meet each child’s needs. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Teacher to prepare lesson plans and assist with their implementation in the classroom.

  • Ensure the safety of all children by implementing the SCS Head Start Active Supervision Policy.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere in line with NH State Child Care Licensing Rules, Head Start Performance Standards, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Teacher to prepare and implement lesson plans using the Creative Curriculum and TS GOLD® child assessment.
  • Use TS GOLD® data to tailor the learning environment to meet each child’s individual needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements: 9 ECE credits (with three being in child growth and development) and enrolled in an ECE program.
  • Preferred Requirements: An associate degree in ECE or an associate degree in a related field with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, three of which must be in child growth and development.
  • Must pass fingerprinting and criminal record check before hire.
  • Classroom experience with preschool children.

Position Details:

  • Full-Time, school year schedule (mid-August to mid-June).
  • Summers off.
  • Rate of Pay: $16.21-$20.53 depending on education.
  • Available in Claremont and Newport.
