YESCO South Dakota East (covering Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Mitchell, Brookings, Watertown, Worthington, Marshall and all surrounding municipalities of Greater Eastern South Dakota) is seeking a qualified skilled and reliable Sign and Lighting Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial signage and lighting systems. You will work on a variety of projects, including LED signs, illuminated displays, and lighting fixtures. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electrical systems, experience with signage and lighting, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Additional certifications or training in electrical work, lighting, or sign maintenance is a plus.
• Experience: At least 1-5 years of experience in sign installation, maintenance, or a related electrical field (e.g., electrical maintenance, lighting systems).
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with sign types such as LED, neon, digital, and channel letter signs is preferred.
• Certifications: OSHA 10/30 Certification or equivalent safety training is highly preferred. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus. Any electrical certifications (e.g., NICET, Journeyman Electrician) will be an advantage.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and aerial lifts safely. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. 
• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
• Customer-Focused: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues in simple terms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation and Maintenance: Install and service various types of signs and lighting systems, including LED, neon, and fluorescent lighting & ballasts, as well as digital and illuminated signs.
• Vehicle:  Must be able to drive & operate a 48’ (height) bucket truck and be able to work at heights of 40’ or higher. 
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues with signage and lighting systems, including wiring, transformers, ballasts, and fixtures, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
• Electrical Work: Perform electrical wiring, connections, and maintenance to ensure safe and effective operation of sign and lighting systems.
• Customer Service: Must have excellent customer service skills. Communicate with clients to assess their needs, explain repair or installation options, and ensure satisfaction with the completed work.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety standards, codes, and regulations (OSHA, NEC, etc.) while working with electrical systems and at heights. Ensure a safe working environment for both yourself and others.
• Documentation: Complete work orders, time sheets, and service reports, ensuring all job details are accurately recorded. iPad and cell phone provided. 
• Travel and Flexibility: Travel to various job sites as needed, including occasional night, weekend, or emergency service calls. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate client schedules. Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. 
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other technicians and staff, providing support and assistance as needed, while ensuring timely project completion.

Job Type: Full-time. Guaranteed 8 hours per work day even during days of inclement weather.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Work Location: Service Vehicles base station is located in the Sioux Falls, SD area which our Sign Techs will report to daily.
