However, Don Martin Trucking has diversified to better serve a variety of businesses, with a modern fleet of over 50 trucks.

Don Martin Trucking is looking to hire a dispatcher to join our team.

Job summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that the trucks are properly scheduled in order to maximize capacity and fleet utilization. This person is also responsible for maintaining relationships with the customers and organizing this type of work within the fleet.

Summary of general job functions

· Work with the Logistics Manager to gain full awareness of the logistical situation of the company

· Work with the Logistics Manager to assist in the scheduling and routing of freight

· Act as a liaison between drivers and the company

· Keep accurate records of jobs in case of incomplete or incorrect data

· Inform supervisor when problems involving customers or drivers are discovered

· Leverage the proper software/tools to ensure that we are running at peak efficiency

· Make managerial decisions about problems as they arise

· Keep supervisor informed of issues pertaining to specific jobs

· Fill in for the Logistics Manager as needed

· Process load/driver paperwork to ensure completion of both billing and the associated payroll

· Ensure that we have all scale tickets/bills of lading and their accuracy

· Assist company personnel with information systems training and utilization as needed

· Support and further technological integration

· Determine processes that will enable the company to take full advantage of supply chain management opportunities as they arise

· Work towards creating an increased synergy within Don Martin and the other associated companies

Summary of specific job functions

· Monitor routes to ensure that the company is able to minimize dead miles and maximize revenue per mile

· Monitor trucks to ensure that they are doing the appropriate job, are at the right place at the right time, and are following their orders from dispatch

· Verify drivers are at work and out, first thing every morning

· Interact with customers in the execution of the daily dispatch plan

· Relate the dispatch plan to the drivers including any special instructions that are specific to the successful delivery of the load

· Work closely with the Logistics Manager in order to make sure that the pertinent info has been related to them

· Adjust the daily dispatch schedule based on unexpected changes in the work flow

· Field daily driver phone calls and questions

· Provide locational directions to drivers

Minimum requirements

This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. A bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in logistics or a related field is preferred but not required. Five to ten years of experience in the transportation industry in a dispatch or management position is also preferred. Must possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and clients. It is important that this individual possess strong negotiation and interpersonal relationship skills. This position requires the ability to type 20 words per minute, and ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of different tasks at the same time. A working knowledge of Microsoft office software is required and so is the ability to operate logistical software.

Abilities required

While performing this job this person will be required to remain seated, typing, and monitoring information on a computer. This position also requires the ability to work on every other weekend.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
