Our private backyard music studio in Maple Valley is hiring a Part-Time Music Teacher! We are currently a 2-teacher studio hoping to add 1 more to the team. Our main goal is helping students learn to love music. We primarily offer piano and ukulele lessons but want to expand to include a general 'music exploration' class (similar to an elementary music class but in a private or small group setting). We strive to make lessons fun through games, apps, improvising and creative activities, studio challenges, and a variety of other small instruments and tools. We primarily seek somebody to join our team that is confident in teaching beginner-intermediate piano. If you are interested in teaching other instruments or classes, we are more than happy to have you offer those as well. This role requires on-site Sunday teaching (approx. 9 AM - 1 PM), with possibly more options on other days.

As an independent contractor (1099), you'll earn a percentage of lesson fees collected from your students, paid monthly (equivalent to ~$35-$43/hour to start), with pay increases after 1 year. Lessons are paid regardless of student attendance; 2 weeks PTO for lessons cancelled/missed by the teacher. Additional pre-approved hourly pay is available for assisting with studio tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and teach engaging weekly lessons.
• Record detailed lesson progress.
• Communicate lesson progress with parents
• Attend bi-annual student performances (3rd weekend in May & 2 weekends pre-Christmas).

Qualifications & Perks:

• Music degree or equivalent music experience/knowledge.
• Experience working with children in any setting
• Bonus: Confident teaching beginner-intermediate piano. We are also open to student-teachers or musicians without teaching experience. Willing to train the right individual.
