Seeking Professional Interpreters who are bilingual candidates to service interpreting assignments only on-site. The following languages are presently needed and encouraged to apply: ASL (American Sign Language)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: Depending on experience (DOE). Note: If you are a RID Credentialed / RID Certified Interpreter and your rate exceeds the posted range; complete an application directly instead:

Additional Pay:

- Mileage reimbursement.                                                                                         - Tolls, parking fees and other eligible expenses are paid at cost.

Location: Nationwide openings *** Any major metropolitan city and surrounding areas across the United States of America and its territories including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

or any of the following Certificates plus Acord Certificate of Insurance (Errors and Omissions, Professional Liability Insurance, or General Liability Insurance (B2B):

Interpretation Certificate (IC): Holders of this certification have demonstrated the ability to interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English. Holders received scores on the CSC exam which prevented the awarding of CSC certification or IC/TC certification. The interpreter’s ability to transliterate is not considered in this certification. Holders of the IC are recommended for a broad range of interpretation assignments. The IC was formerly known as the Expressive Interpreting Certificate (EIC).

Certificate of Interpretation (CI): Holders of this certification are recognized as fully certified in interpretation and have demonstrated the ability to interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English for both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign tasks. The interpreter’s ability to transliterate is not considered in this certification. Holders of the CI are recommended for a broad range of interpretation assignments.

Comprehensive Skills Certificate (CSC): Holders of this certification have demonstrated the ability to interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English and to transliterate between spoken English and an English-based sign language. Holders of this certification are recommended for a broad range of interpreting and transliterating assignments.

Master Comprehensive Skills Certificate (MCSC): The MCSC examination was designed with the intent of testing for a higher standard of performance than the CSC. Holders of this certification were required to hold the CSC prior to taking this exam. Holders of this certification are recommended for a broad range of interpreting and transliterating assignments.

Reverse Skills Certificate (RSC): Holders of this certification have demonstrated the ability to interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and English-based sign language or transliterate between spoken English and a signed code for English. Holders of this certification are deaf or hard-of-hearing and interpretation/transliteration is rendered in ASL, spoken English and a signed code for English or written English. Holders of the RSC are recommended for a broad range of interpreting assignments where the use of a interpreter who is deaf or hard-of-hearing would be beneficial.

- Ability to answer professional interpreter protocols and standards of practices
- Ability to cover assignments, per your availability, to the highest customer service
- Adherence to RID Certified / RID Credentialed Interpreter Code of Ethics

- Ability to read English and write in English for assignment confirmations, invoicing, and submitting your verification of service tickets
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations included but not limited to: client illness, emergencies, urgent care, terminally-ill patients, mental health acute and non-acute cases, substance abuse and rehabilitation services, immigration proceedings, lawyer's depositions, refugee settlements, border patrol, police presence, etc.

- Language Ability: Fully bilingual or English language speaking ability and
- Language Ability: American Sign Language (ASL)

Preferred Qualifications:
- RID Certified/Credential Interpreter
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) or Associate Degree (Preferred) or High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Relevant work experience working with people who are hard of hearing (1 year preferred)
