Lower/Middle School Teacher
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time lower/middle school teacher to provide instruction for grades 3-8 in subjects including Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Enrichment, and PE/Recess.
As a school that provides support, accommodations, and modifications for students with learning differences, we seek an innovative, creative, and flexible educator dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum
- Develop and implement curriculum, lesson plans, unit guides, and pacing guides.
- Utilize scaffolding, modifications, differentiation, and accommodations to support student learning.
- Assess student progress through various evaluations, including NWEA MAP and IOWA testing.
- Utilize educational technology, including GoGuardian, IXL, Kickboard, and Sycamore Education, for attendance, grading, learning reinforcement, and student monitoring.
Classroom & Student Management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment.
- Manage student behavior using school-wide behavior programs and Kickboard (PowerSchool Unified Behavior Support).
- Provide academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support.
- Integrate and support new and visiting students.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-related events.
- Attend all parent-teacher conferences.
- Participate in morning care, lunch supervision, and extracurricular activities such as aftercare and after-school clubs.
- Respond to emails within 24-48 hours.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Model the core values of Benton Hall Academy.
- Take initiative and contribute to the school community as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
School & Community Engagement
- Assist with school fundraisers, including the annual Food for Thought event and Spaghetti Supper.
- Organize and lead positive reward days for students.
Qualifications
- Experience working with lower/middle school students preferred
- Experience working with students with learning differences preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching License in the state of TN (or willing to transfer out-of-state license to TN)
