Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CMM Operator/ Programmer to join our team. The primary function of this role is assuring dimension compliance to customer specifications of machined parts using coordinate measuring machine, gages & applicable hand measuring tools.

Reports Directly To:

CMM Manager

Direction Exercised:

Machine set up and operators

Tools and Equipment:

CMM, calipers, gages, blueprints, etc.

Reference Procedures:

All WAC policies and procedures applicable to position and all WPM procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· CMM operation for setup approval.

· Program CMM for production audits.

· Gage calibration and fixture certification required with CMM.

· Record data using CMM for PPAP approvals.

· Dimension layout of machined parts for PPAP submission.

· Perform first piece inspection for machining set up operations.

· Knowledge & practical use of gages, tools, & related measuring equipment.

· Assist Production & Engineering in identifying critical areas to be gauged and audited.

· Assist quality with information in the collection and interpretation of in-process SPC.

· Assist Quality Engineer with troubleshooting return parts.

· Operation and programming of LK HERA, ZEISS for production audits.

· Design of fixtures for use on CMM.

· Troubleshoot machining, setup & fixture challenges.

· Other projects assigned by the Quality Manager or VP of Quality.

Entry Level Requirements:

· CMM operation, jigs, fixtures & setup.

· Advanced Blueprint reading.

· GD&T symbols & definitions.

· Experienced CMM programmer

. 10 years of work experience in Pattern making

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

Indoctrination Training Required:

· Quality Awareness Training

· QS9000 Overview

· Safety Training

· All reference procedures

· AnnualCMM overview from outside source

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, pull a maximum of 40 pounds.

· Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, pull a maximum of 16 pounds.

· Employee must be able to stand/walk at least 8-10 hours per day.

· Employee must have eye sight which enables employee to operate cmm’s, clean and inspect parts, and judge depth and distance.

Duties

  • Operate and program CMM equipment to conduct dimensional inspections of machined parts.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Utilize mathematical skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Collaborate with the machining and tooling teams to identify and resolve any quality issues.
  • Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and report findings to management.
  • Assist in the fabrication process by providing feedback on tooling and machining practices.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on CMM equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in CMM technology.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in math, particularly in geometry and trigonometry, for accurate measurements.
  • Experience with dimensional inspection techniques and quality assurance processes.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and its operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards is a plus.
  • Previous experience in machining or tooling environments is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using Calypso software for programming CMM operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
