Job Title: DFCS Contracted Therapist (FULL/PART-TIME) 
REPORTS TO: DFCS Program Manager

SUPERVISES: NONE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide case management, family and individual counseling/ therapy, to consumers and families as appropriate to the position; complete family assessments and discharge plans; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.

2. Gather information about consumers through interviews, collateral contact, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluate data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach.

3. Provide case management/therapeutic services to a specialized caseload of clients, as appropriate to the requirements of the individual position; performs in-home visits, provide Behavioral Modification, Parenting, Life Skills, Anger
Management, individual/family counseling, substance abuse prevention and other services as identified by Case Plan and DFCS Case Manager.

4. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of case records; document each visit in guideline with agency and DHR standards; review and modify ISP/case plans as needed; and complete other required paperwork as needed.

5. Provide, arrange, and/or refer for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious mental health problems.

6. Follows up to determine progress and attainment of case plan goals; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.

7. Ensure the safety and well-being of children while working with the family to reduce/eliminate risk of child abuse/neglect.

8. Consults with other staff and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refer clients to appropriate service agencies as required.

9. Participates in the review of clinical issues, staff meetings and trainings.
10. Maintain a professional relationship with community agencies and referral resources.
11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Human Service Field; with at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of child protective services.
Candidate must possess excellent verbal and writing skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling and treatment methods, procedures, and standards.

 Good oral and written communication skills and group facilitation skills.
 Ability to work independently and meet service objectives efficiently.
 Knowledge of providing intensive case management to children with emotional disturbances and their families.
 Knowledge of proper mental health record keeping and documentation.
 Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
 Knowledge of DFCS policy and procedures and service guidelines.

Typical Working Conditions:

Most work with this agency is performed with children (under the age of 18 y/o) and their families that are at risk of abuse/neglect. Services are usually provided in the home, school or in other community settings. Evening and Weekend work may be required, depending on the needs of your families. The job involves collaborating with
Psychologist, Psychiatrist, DFCS, and other community agencies.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
