Organizational Summary:

Located in a stunning urban oasis in Eagan, Minnesota, Caponi Art Park is a distinctive nonprofit community space. Our mission is to restore and nurture the human spirit through art, nature, and community. We do this by offering a variety of arts performances and public events, as well as educational tours and workshops, using the beauty and serenity of the natural world as the backdrop to it all.

 

Summary:

The role of this part-time seasonal position is to care and maintain the grounds and art works in Caponi Art Park.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lawn care – mowing, trimming, and upkeep
  • Landscape maintenance - care of perennial and native gardens, planting, weeding etc.
  • Oversight of gardening volunteers
  • Help with special projects such as sculpture care, installing new sculptures
  • Storm clean-up
  • Leaf removal
  • Parking lot and trail maintenance
  • Minor equipment maintenance 

 

Experience and Qualifications:

Required

  • Work independently and manage work hours to complete daily activities
  • Establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the general public
  • Physically able to perform all essential position functions and job duties assigned in a variety of weather conditions. This will require walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and moving unassisted over uneven ground and up and down stairs
  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Operate power equipment including weed cutter, chainsaw, and lawn mower
  • Have reliable transportation or the ability to be physically present at the park on a regular basis; a valid driver’s license is required to operate golf carts

  • Enjoys working outdoors
  • A good mechanical aptitude 
  • Personal engagement with an artistic practice of any kind
  • Animal friendly (must be animal tolerant at a minimum)
     

Details:

Reports to: Executive Director

Start date: TBD upon offer

Duration: April through October

Hours: 20 hrs. per week, flexible schedule

Type: Part-time/Seasonal

Pay Rate: $20/hr.
