Job Description:
As an Hourly Dog Trainer at My Dog Listens LLC, you will play a hands-on role in the daily training, care, and overall well-being of the dogs in our program. You will assist in training sessions, structured walks, socialization, feeding, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the dogs. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments.
We will provide comprehensive training in balanced dog training methodologies, using a variety of tools and techniques to ensure dogs are happy, confident, and obedient. This is a physically active role that involves cleaning, handling dogs of various sizes, and working both indoors and outdoors.

- Someone passionate about working with dogs and confident handling all breeds and temperaments
- Highly motivated & eager to learn how to read behaviors, shape obedience, and build canine confidence
- Strong work ethic – able to work independently and with little supervision
- Great communicator – both with clients and within our team
- Detail-oriented & observant – able to notice subtle changes in dog behavior, body language, and training progress
- Trustworthy & responsible – we take pride in our high-quality training and care for each dog
- Must have reliable transportation – punctuality and consistency are key
- Must have a smartphone – used for communication, scheduling, and taking photos & videos for owner updates and social media
- Prior experience is a plus, but not required – we will train the right person!
What to Expect:
Dog training is fun, but it’s also hard work! A typical day includes:
- Training sessions using various balanced training methods tailored to each dog
- Reading and shaping dog behaviors using different tools and techniques
- Structured walks and field trips
- Cleaning up after dogs (yes, lots of poop!)
- Feeding and managing dog routines
- Taking photos & videos for owner updates and social media
- Using your smartphone for scheduling and communication with the team and clients
- Paying close attention to detail in training sessions, care routines, and owner communication
