Job Summary:


The Purchasing Manager serves as the key leader for the public side of our business, the largest and most active unit at Okon Recycling. This is a hands-on role that involves customer interaction, scheduling, supervising yard operations, and managing inventory. We're looking for a self-starter who can multitask, communicate effectively, and quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment. While experience is preferred, it's not required—we’re looking for someone who can grow into a management role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the public-facing yard operations, ensuring efficiency and top-tier customer service.
  • Supervise yard staff, including scheduling and task delegation.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing material purchases, ensuring accuracy in pricing and transactions.
  • Interact directly with customers, vendors, and suppliers to build relationships and facilitate smooth transactions.
  • Track inventory levels and work closely with dispatch and logistics teams for material flow.
  • Learn and utilize company systems/software for tracking purchases, inventory, and scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Work hands-on in the yard as needed to understand and improve operations.

Requirements:

  • Strong multitasking skills—able to balance customer service, supervision, and logistics.
  • Tech-savvy—must be comfortable using computers and learning new software.
  • Customer service-oriented—friendly, professional, and able to handle customer inquiries.
  • Quick learner—able to pick up industry knowledge and operational processes fast.
  • Hands-on approach—willing to be actively involved in yard operations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive—doesn’t wait to be told what to do.
  • Experience in purchasing, logistics, or operations is a plus but not required
