Babylon Telecommunications (BABTEL) is looking to hire an entry-level network support technician. This position requires a reliable, professional, and customer-friendly individual. BABTEL provides services to the US DOD and DOS, including campus-type network deployments and O&M and bespoke solutions delivered in difficult and sometimes dangerous locations. This work will take place at a US Military Installation in the Middle East.

Position Duties

  • Retain escort authorization from the US military for sites that are relevant to company operations.
  • Transport and provide access for company personnel to, from, and on US military installations.
  • Work with a diverse team to deliver and install network equipment.
  • Participate in developing written procedures relating to network/field service.
  • Participate in documentation and reporting.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic configuration, installation, and updates for routers, switches, and other networking equipment.

Basic Requirements

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Willing to travel to Qatar (Doha) and UAE (Dubai/Abu Dhabi).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain a local license at their deployment site within 2 months of deployment.
  • Must currently hold, or be able to obtain, a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) within 2 months of the hire date.
  • Must not have any current or recent convictions of criminal activity.
  • Able to work independently and be productive with only moderate supervision.
  • Willing and able to take ownership of problems and feel responsible for working them to a conclusion.
  • Supports and enjoys an ethnically diverse work environment.
  • Customer-facing and understanding customer requirements.
  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Technical Requirements

  • Familiar with the basics of TCP/IP and OSI.
  • Familiar with the basics of LAN/WANs, routing, switching, VLANs and STP.
  • Familiar with WiFi technology and standards.
  • Familiar with ITIL and customer support/service desk practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+ or Network+, ITIL, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST), or other relevant certifications (or in progress).
  • Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or network monitoring systems.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) are a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs of networking equipment.
  • May require occasional travel to other regional sites or branch locations (Qatar or UAE).
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Company housing is provided (on-base or off-base compound).

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
