Job Overview
AWS Carpenter Contractors is a long-standing, commercial owned custom cabinet builder. Our expert craftsmen in our mill shop provide only the highest quality materials and products, looking for a laminator. A Laminator at a Millwork Shop is responsible for applying laminate materials to surfaces, such as wood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), or other substrates, in the production of custom cabinetry, furniture, or architectural components. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and knowledge of various laminating techniques and materials. A laminator works with wood veneer and plastic laminate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Preparation: Measure, cut, and prepare laminate sheets according to project specifications.
  • Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, smooth, and free of defects prior to applying laminates.
  • Laminating: Apply adhesives and laminate sheets to surfaces using appropriate tools and techniques (e.g., rollers, presses, and heat guns).
  • Trimming and Finishing: Cut and trim excess laminate, ensuring clean edges and a professional finish.
  • Quality Control: Inspect laminated surfaces for defects, bubbles, or imperfections and make necessary corrections.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on laminating tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and functional.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers, carpenters, and other production staff to meet project deadlines and specifications.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have Driver's License and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Experience: Previous experience in millwork or cabinetry, with specific expertise in laminating preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficient with hand and power tools used in laminating processes.
  • Knowledge of Materials: Understanding of various laminate types (plastic laminate, veneer, etc.) and adhesives.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of troubleshooting issues during the laminating process. Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in millwork, cabinetry, or carpentry is a plus. This role may require adherence to safety regulations and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while working with adhesives and laminating machinery.

40 hours - Monday through Friday (Some Saturdays)

Pay will be based on experience.
