We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Radiology Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will provide essential radiological services for the inmate population at our institution, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Must hold a valid state license from Arizona.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
  • Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is mandatory.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Typically provide one (1) six-hour session weekly (a session is defined as one hour).
  • Work hours are generally from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
  • Federal holidays are excluded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine radiologic procedures as ordered by medical staff for the inmate population.
  • Transmit and retrieve X-ray images and reports electronically; scan reports into the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Train to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule procedures.
  • Work effectively with a diverse inmate population.
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibration and repairs.
  • Respond to basic emergency situations during special radiographic procedures.
  • Schedule exams and maintain accurate records.
  • Assess and select technical exposure factors and positions for quality diagnostic exams.
  • Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate anxiety.
  • Independently perform all types of radiographic procedures, including chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays.
  • Notify the radiologist or referring physician of any preliminary abnormalities observed during exams.
  • Coordinate the transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Act as a liaison between the radiologist and medical staff.
  • Comply with correctional techniques relevant to medical services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of local medical protocols and adhere to CDC universal precautions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, commensurate with the role of Radiology Technician.
  • Handle the computerization and printing of daily logs, exam requisitions, and patient records.
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on X-ray equipment.
  • Assist with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program reviews.
  • Ensure all X-ray requests are completed accurately and efficiently.
