POSITION SUMMARY

The Outpatient Clinic Psychologist provides practitioner-level mental health services for students enrolled in their school or district. Their duties include working one-on-one with school-age children, diagnosing mental health conditions and providing appropriate treatments, and working with families to meet children’s individual mental and emotional health needs.

This position will work with the Correctional Education - Special Education Services Division. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Diagnose and treat emotional, mental and behavioral disorders
• Assess patients and provide recommendations for treatments
• Use literature, research and translate complex concepts and use them to treat patients
• Provide patients with referrals to other therapists, clinics or facilities as needed

• Keeping and updating HIPAA-compliant records containing privileged health information

• Learning and applying evidence-based diagnosis and treatment protocols in compliance with state licensing standards

• Organizational skills suitable for keeping records, which may be used as legal documents or for other official purposes

• Skill at communicating with colleagues, district employees, families and children of all ages

• The ability to travel, sometimes on short notice, to various campuses throughout the district, and to respond to emergencies outside of normal school hours

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree school psychology from a Maryland program approved to lead to licensure required; Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Valid Nationally Certified School Psychologist certificate issued by the National School Psychology Certification Board (NCSP) in any state 
  • Independent and effective problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a teamwork approach 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems
