Conservation Landscaper 

Maranatha Farm is looking for individuals with basic landscaping experience who are interested in assisting with our stewardship programs. The Intention of our 4 year old start-up farm located in Peapack, NJ is to practice regenerative agriculture and forestry. The majority of the work on the farm is based around conservation so residential landscaping experience is not a requirement for this position. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Tasks under direction of the Farm Operations Steward:
  • Invasive species management (hand removal, string trimming, mowing, etc.)
  • Conservation grade planting, protecting and watering
  • Trail care (chipping, clearing, trimming)
  • Farm support (harvesting, mulching beds, pasture seeding, etc.) 
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by owner

Required Skills, Physical Qualifications and Competencies:

• Prior experience working in outdoor conditions
• Agricultural experience of any variety is a plus 
• Knowledge of NJ invasive plant species a plus (Stilt Grass, Thistle, Mugwort, etc.)
• Ability to safely operate power equipment (lawnmowers, chainsaws, string trimmers)
• Ability to safely operate company vehicles (UTVs, Skidsteer, Pickup truck) 
• Properly use and maintain shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, hand shears, and loppers
• The ability to repeatedly and safely lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
• Excellent interpersonal skills at all times
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Compensation Package:

• Current Position Available May 1st - November 22nd 2024; possibility of advancement to permanent position based on end of season staffing requirements
• Salary: Commensurate with experience ($15-$25 per hour)  
• Paid Time Off (rate of one 1 hour per 30 hours of service)
• Housing is not provided with this position
