Summer camp educators/childcare providers work as program educators, lead classroom teachers, and/or assistants/aides during the summer camp season which is June 3-August 2. Those working during the summer term must be able to complete to at least 7 of the 8 camp weeks in order to be hired for the position. Please see below descriptions of the various summer positions and please note that team members may rotate between positions throughout the summer, depending on need and staff availability.

• TEACHING ASSISTANTS/AIDES: Preschool Teaching Assistants/Aides are responsible for assisting Lead Teachers in the process of maintaining a safe, clean learning environment as well as ensuring the well-being and safety of the children in their care. They are expected to maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the Director, Lead Teachers, and other team members in implementing creative curriculum inspired activities and learning plans. They assist the Lead Teachers in preparing materials and supplies in advance for activities. They work collaboratively with family members, legal guardians, and other team members to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities, which includes assisting the Lead Teachers in maintaining daily communication through the Brightwheel app. They assist with potty training and diaper changing for younger children as needed as well as assisting with meal/snack prep, serving, and clean-up. They are also required to complete duties and meet other expectations as outlined in their offer letters/job contracts.
• LEAD TEACHERS: Preschool Lead Teachers are responsible for leading their own preschool classroom during the 2024-2024 school year at Greenville Explorers Academy Preschool. They develop and implement systems, procedures, and lesson plans for their classroom that align with DSS regulations, NAEYC guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice, SC Early Learning standards, and company/building policies under the supervision and guidance of corporate leadership and the Director of Education & Programs at GVL Explorers Academy @ 638 E Washington St. They are responsible for regularly communicating with the families of their students about their positive development, any behavioral/developmental concerns, and updates to classroom expectations and experiences. They maintain a safe, clean learning environment, ensuring the well-being, health, and safety of the children in their care. They track child/class progress through pictures, portfolio documentation, and online software tools. They are also required to complete duties and meet other expectations as outlined in their offer letters/job contracts.
• SCHOOL-AGE EDUCATOR/CHILDCARE PROVIDER: School-Age Program Educators support the running of all School-Age (K5-5th grade) programs, including Afterschool Adventures and Summer & School Break Camps program for Summer 2024 and 2024-2025 school year. They are responsible for the transportation and supervision of children enrolled in the program. They facilitate Enrichment Classes, outdoor play/excursions, and Homework Help time, when applicable. They maintain communication with families as needed through the Brightwheel app. They work closely with the Director of Education & Programs in planning activities and upholding best policies and procedures for these programs. They maintain a safe, clean learning environment, ensuring the well-being, health, and safety of the children in their care. They are also required to complete duties and meet other expectations as outlined in their offer letters/job contracts.
