The Launch Operator’s main function is to drive our US Coast Guard Certified launch boats and transport our members and guests to and from their boats. Pay is $35/hour. We are currently hiring for the 2026 summer season which runs May through October. The ideal candidate for this position would be experienced US Coast Guard Limited Master certified launch driver; however, we encourage anyone that will be 18 year of age by summer 2026 and has experience driving a power boat to contact us and we will explain the certification process (OGYC reimburses costs after one season of work).  This is a serious job that looks great on resume and college application; you are quite literally the Captain of your own ship. Requirements for Coast Guard Limited Master Certification:

• Successful completion of the US Coast Guard test or approved one day course and test from an independent provider. (OGYC is prepared to help with this.)
• Age 18 or older ($375).
• 120 days experience on power boat (time acquired since age 13); 90 of those days in the last 3 years
• Physical, drug test, eye exam
• CPR/First Aid class completion
• CT Safe Boating Certificate (one day Safe Boating Course $60 and CT Fee $50)
